Replacement UPVC Door Handles

If you're replacing your handles or want to add a bit of extra security, you'll choose the perfect handle for your door. These upvc handles are easy to fit and comply with the required 92mm centres for multipoint locks.

The most important measurements to take into consideration are the backplate fixing centers and lever/key hole dimensions. Check these measurements against your current marks before placing an order.

Lever/Pad

Lever pad handles are made up of a lever on one side and a handle that is shaped like a paddle on the other. They are intended for use with key wind locks. However they can be affixed to multipoint split spindle door locks.

Once you have selected the correct handle for the doors, the finishes will be listed in the drop-down list. Certain types of handles are not available in all finishes. Always check the technical drawing and dimensions for the item you are looking to ensure you get the right size and fit.

It is important that when selecting a new set upvc lever pad handles, they are in line with the PZ (distance from the handle spindle to the centre of the hole of the cylinder) of your multipoint door locks. This is because the handles must be lined up so that the doors remain locked, regardless of whether you are looking at them from the inside or outside. Our handles are designed to fit a wide range of standard cylinders, however it is important to double-check before ordering.

If you want to upgrade to dual spindle levers, you will need to remove the existing handles and disassemble the lock case. This will require an extra split cylinder inline. You can purchase these separately. We have included a technical illustration in the images of each product.

It is a good idea to loosen the screws that hold your door handle, and then examine the mechanism. If the screws are too tight then you might need to loosen them even more. Then, you can remove the spindle from the handle and replace it with your new upvc handle. It is important to ensure that the handle is in the correct position prior to installing it. You can do this by placing your finger between the frame, and the handle to ensure that it's in the right position.

Lever/Lever

The lever handles on doors are used to operate a multi-point lock with an Euro cylinder. They are found on many upvc double doors, as well as on some wooden and aluminium doors. They have an inside lever and an outside paddle and are typically available in two different types. Sprung - These include a spring cassette installed within the backplate that helps bring the handle lever into a horizontal position. Non-sprung: They do not have a mechanism for bringing the handle lever to a horizontal position.

To fix a door handle that is sagging you must locate the detent access hole or pin, which is usually an elongated or rectangular with a protruding hole situated on one side of the handle base plate. Once you have located the detent access hole or pin, you can take it out using the help of a screwdriver.

When the handle is in a horizontal position, you can put the screws back in place and tighten them to make sure the handle is secured to the base plate. It is also recommended to apply an adhesive that locks the screw threads to improve the grip and stop them from loosing over time.

There are many reasons why door handles of levers droop. The most frequent reason is that the fixings are over tightened, and are putting pressure on the bearings of the lever, which causes it to become a bind on the door's surface. It could also be that the levers have not been operated at a right angle, which causes compression of the latch mechanism and stops it from fully springing into operation.

A common cause of spring levers that are not functioning properly is that the spring is not being in the proper position on the backplate. The simplest way to check this is to move the handle to see whether it changes to its horizontal position.

If the door handles aren't tight, it is important to identify the issue quickly, since this can lead to excessive wear on the screws, and even to the handle falling off the base plate. You should also tighten loose screws frequently to prevent them from becoming looser.

The handles for doors made of upvc are also referred to as 'Snib' handle sets and have a snib lever at the top of the lever that can be pressed down to lock your door in the event that you don't use the dummy lock. The tubular latch is the most likely to be the cause if your uPVC door handle is slammed shut. There may be a few things that can cause this, the most common being a simple lack of lubrication on the latch plate. This can be fixed quite quickly by opening the door and spraying lubricant on the handle and lock. It could also be that the latch has come loose from the backplate. This could be more problematic and will require a specialist to fix it.

You'll have to know your cylinder's PZ size in order to choose the correct replacement handle set. This is the measurement in millimetres between the inner edge of the door frame and the center of the handle hole. It is also important to determine if the door is hook-style locks or a mortise style lock. Once you know these measurements, the most efficient method to determine the right handles is to use the filter by brand option on the website. This will narrow down your options, and you will then select the correct size from the list.
